Excellent Strategy
For the lay person to understand the economic consequences of skilled immigration, one can ask what would happen if they took a million highly skilled American workers out of the economy. That would clearly be bad.
How would the removal of a million skilled non-Americans be different? The economy as a whole would take a major hit in both cases.

One thing that stands out from US vs Europe(UK included) is that it is very difficult to blend into the main stream. Especially in UK where it is divided into Zones. These zones say that you belong to that community and that race.
Secondly, the number of IT jobs are comparatively less in UK and Europe and some places you need to know the language ex. Working with SAP AG or in SAP AG you need to know Deutsche otherwise you feel you are lost.
Thirdly, there is difference in the way the Operations are done, Process and procedures followed.
As the proverb goes The other side of the wall is always green. We cannot say UK is good or Germany is good unless we experienced. And also just one person becomes successful everyone cannot. One thing I can say for sure If anyone has MBA from top notch schools they can go to the top of the ladder easily in London Financial Industries.

Depending upon the uscis announcement in a day or two (i.e,7/17 or 7/18)things may change for the short term so we will plan any specific action item after that.

My drivers license is expiring in October as well as my H-1B. My company has applied for H-1B renewal in July and it seems it will not get renewed before end of October. I have an approved I-140. Does anyone know if I can get my license renewed without the new H-1B approval notice in hand? Thanks everyone in advance.

where did you see these 30/45 days numbers? you can apply an H1 extension upto 180 days in advance of the expiry of your current H1 (basically 180 days before the new start-date)
Let me clarify you guys, 180 days advance to expiry is good, I am referring to applying in the last minute, ideally it should be atleast 30 days ahead of expiry date in order to avoid the complications.
Secondly I am referring to applying for H1B Extension AFTER Expiry date which is good for 45 days. Hope you got it now.

I filed on 8th August and havent yet received my notices in mail.. I contacted my lawyer today and he sent copies of my receipts and then he also found out that they had received my FP notice .. I am supposed to go on 27th Oct to Newark USCIS... Anyone coming on same day ..
My application is being processed at Texas..
Not many people who have filed with me has recieved any notices as of yet..
So dont worry guys we all should be fine..

H1 extensions are never subjected to cap. But if U start using EAD (by filing I-9) then U loose H1 status and hence U break the continuity of H1, so in future if U decide to go back to H1B (for reason like 485 rejected), then U have to apply a NEW H1 which is subjected to cap (not applicable for cap-exempt employment).
H4 is not lost when U use EAD, it is just that U R in AOS status on H4. It is similar to F1, F1 status doesn't allow ppl to work outside campus, but after U graduate, U can work anywhere on EAD (for 1yr) and still be on F1 status and travel using F1. Help!
Took TST last week, positive (16mm), X-ray negative, civil surgeon marked "Class B, Latent TB Infection" on I-693, and gave me a notes saying that since May 2008, TST>10 will be marked with LTBI, and advised me to go to Health Department.
Same as many of you guys, had taken vaccines when young. Have been in US for 11 years. Pretty sure I don't have TB. What should I do? Does LTBI affect 485 approval? How about AP/EAD? Will USCIS ask for evidence of TB treatment?

We just got our medical envelope for me and my wife from the doctor, we both had TST reaction of 10mm and 18mm, chest x-ray came out normal...doctor marked both of us Latent Class TB(LTB1)...i would not worry about this, Latent TB is not infectous and recommended(not required) to undergo treatment. I am going to sit tight, not taking any medication as i heard the medication is a strong antibiotic which has more side effects(esp in women) and does more damage(to liver) than cure. If on medication, you are also required to take a test every 2 months to check if your liver can take medications for following months. Ofcourse, even after taking medication for 9 months, you cannot guarantee future TST test will result -ve due to BCG vaccine history.
If i get an RFE at a later time, i will goto my PCP, start medication(which i will discard) and get a letter saying in am on medication just for paper work sake, i refuse to take the medicine when x-ray is clear.

There are certain things that money cannot buy [for everything else there is Master card :) ].
Seriously, If $2000 dollars would buy you a GC (guaranteed) then I think most (> 90%) of the people on this forum would have gone for that (or atleast convince their employers to part with that amount for a guaranteed ROI)
It would be good to get some kind of insight into the thought process of IV core/lead team and how they think they can put a million dollars to effective use?
I mean can we lobby/cultivate our own caucus (not cactus :D) from the ground up in the congress etc, who can work for our cause? What other such effective things can be done?
Any kind of roadmap/plan of action that would probably help generate an interest and convince atleast some people to start donating.

To be able to effectively push legal immigration related laws/changes on their own merit and not held back in one common basket, we might need an equally powerful legal immigration/H1B caucus out there.

If they still pre-adjudicated they might not need to move the date backwards, but if they pre-adjudicated we are more likely to loss GC. For example if they adjudicate 180,000 applications per year, but that included 80,000 pre-adjudications then we would loss 40,000 visas that year. So now they adjudicate what they can issue visas for.

We will be neglected and our voice will not be heard if we dont do anything. IV core is working hard but they cannot do it alone without the help from each and every member. Each IV member is important to our success. We cannot afford to leave it to others to do it for us. The collective muscle of our efforts will create miracles for us. I see from a total of 450+ members that logged in yesterday only 12 people sent emails to 60 min. This kind of response to calls for action will not help our cause. Same goes for the state chapters. How many of us have actually gone to the state chapter thread and signed up? Pls. ask this yourself before posting new messages on the forum.

I am not sure whether to go for EB2 filing in PERM or wait one more year to file i485 (hope PD will reach 2003 september by next year october ). Even if i start EB2 perm now it's going to take at least one year to clear labor and i140 (if every thing smooth).
It should be worth it, because you didn't indicate the company would revoke your eb3+I140 approval.. Why not give it a try?
And if you start EB2 perm now, if everything's smooth, you may be cleared within 6-7 months (say, premium I140 is allowed for Eb2 then)

Ed Bryant (R-Tenn.), Edwards worked on immigration issues when lawmakers passed immigration reform in the 104th Congress. At the time, Bryant was a member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Border Security and Claims Subcommittee. Edwards also co-wrote The Congressional Politics of Immigration Reform, published in 1998.
Agricultural Coalition for Immigration Reform (ACIR): Monte Lake, Craig Regelbrugge, Sharon Hughes
This ad hoc coalition includes more than 100 organizations with a “substantial labor need,” said co-chairman Regelbrugge, who is also the senior director of government relations for the American Nursery & Landscape Association. The group wants to ensure that agriculture employers have access to a seasonal work force to make certain the country has a “safe and secure food supply.” While individual members of the coalition pitch in, ACIR is also relying on some outside help. Lake is a partner with McGuiness Norris & Williams. The former deputy attorney general of California said that before the 2001 terrorist attacks, the group was close to achieving its goal of helping to reform immigration in a way that allowed access to seasonal workers while instituting a system of “earned immigration.” Hughes is the executive vice president of the National Council of Agricultural Employers and a key component in coordinating ACIR’s grassroots campaign.
United to Secure America: William Crosby, Wright Andrews
In the first half of this year, the group spent more than $600,000 in lobbying fees, including $180,000 each to Butera & Andrews, Podesta Mattoon and Timothy R Rupli & Associates. The group advocates boosting national security through allowing what it calls a “manageable number” of immigrants and non-immigrant visitors. One source praised the access of Crosby, a former GOP chief counsel on the House Rules Committee and 27-year Hill veteran who now works for the Livingston Group, as especially valuable.
American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA): Judith Golub, Marshall Fitz
Golub is the senior director of advocacy and public affairs for the 9,000-member group and Fitz is the associate director. AILA aims to educate Congress and the public about the benefits of an immigration policy that allows refugees and workers to enter the country.

Thanks for a quick explanation.. So basically we are hosed if we leave our employer on a bad note and he decides to use our labor for someone else.
Follow up questions:
1. If I understand this correctly then simply revoking the labor won't kill the I-485 application but the employer needs to substitute the original application for another employee.
2. Also, by pre-July 2007 you mean people who filed their labor or I-485 before July 2007, or both?
3. Will this affect people who applied (and approved) for their labor before July'07 but filed their I-485 during / after July'07 fiasco i.e. majority of IV members.
4. If people in point # 3 are not affected then are they off the leash?

In very basic terms.
If you have left your employer after filing AC21(140 approved and 485 pending for 180 days), your employer then revoked your 140 and used the original labor to file 140 for another person(substitution). Another person has applied for 485.
Then original applicant's 485 will be denied.....because AAO is saying One Labor can be used only for one Green Card....
Mind you this is all relates to pre July 2007.
